Easier than writing lots of individual emails

Like I said on my home page…this all started because I currently have too many emails in my inbox that say ‘What’s going on in your life?’. frankly, the idea of answering in a centralized location was far less overwhelming to me than writing individual emails…thus getting some information out to the masses. so, please enjoy. i take topic requests too.

June 23rd 2006

The ultimate goal here is to give a timeline of my life with the appropriate highlights that would enable any person (you), from any era of my life (mostly past), to be able to orient themselves (yourself) from wherever they (you) left off with me and to navigate the history right on up to present day. That’s the ultimate goal. It’s like I’m writing my own, very long, eulogy…making the load lighter for whomever gets assigned that job (mom, Jennene, Trevor, etc….just saving you the headache of relying on memory in a pinch…we’re all getting old) upon my ‘passing’ or ‘being called by my Maker’ or my ‘homegoing’ or whatever the chic phrase for ‘lived the life that was ordained for me by God’ will be. So, more on that task later. Amen.

This begins my attempt…starting with the skeleton and will fill in over time.

Without Excuse » Why A Blog Could Be “Important” wrote @

[…] Jesus said “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  Matthew 6:21 Jesus also said, when answering the Pharisees, “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.  The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.  But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”  Matthew 12:34b-37 I, as Paul, seek to “speak many words of encouragement to the people (Acts 20:2).”  Blogs that I have been reading the past few years are clearly targeted to what is in the author’s heart.  Many log their political, cultural and entertainment thoughts for the public record.  But, the past couple of years more blogs (Foolish blog, Eric Zeller’s Family blog, Scott Zeller’s blog, Gunner Gunderson’s blog, Adam Powell’s blog, Sam Neylan’s blog, Holly Worsham’s blog, Kerry Drew’s blog, Carly Payne’s blog, Sarah Dyer’s blog, Jennene Margrave’s blog, etc.) have recorded thoughts, opinions, and facts of a more serious (although not always serious) nature.  The culture we live in will pass away (not that it is irrelevant) but the God we serve will endure forever.  If our words, insignificant as they may seem at times, encourage one another to glorify God than what could possibly be more important?  We are told not to merely make converts, but make disciples.  These blogs (mentioned earlier) have not only encouraged me, but have also stoked my love for the eternal God of truth.  I am sure they have served many others in the same way.  While readership and comments may be lower than we hope I want to let the aforementioned bloggers know that the words are important and effective.  As Samsterdam put on her “My Life’s Timeline” page, we are, in effect, writing a really long eulogy.  What will your legacy be? […]
