INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

So, when I substitute teach, I usually let my students ask me any questions that they want. One question that tends to generate much wonder and discussion is ‘Have you traveled out of the country?’.

So, in an effort to remember all the countries and reasons, here is my list, thus far in life.

1987
Jamaica, 8th grade graduation gift
1991
Ireland, Summer Foreign Exchange program
1992
Mexico, Cruise with Aunts & Uncles
Canada, Roadtrip with Kim Votaw
Tijuana, Mexico to shop with Kim Votaw & The Musulmans
1996
Israel, College Semester at IBEX
-Italy, Vacation/Education
-Jordan, Field Study trip/Education
-Egypt, Vacation/Education
1998
Israel, College Semester at IBEX
-Greece, Vacation/Education
1999
American & Western Samoa, Summer Missions Trip
2006
India, Missions Trip with Church of the Canyons
Thailand (Phuket), Debrief

I’m so thankful for all my international travels to date!
And, for the record, I’m happy to travel anywhere else in the world at any moment!

June 2007
I’d like to travel to the following places in the next few years or so.
Domestic
Most of these I’ve been to, but not with the current residents there that I want to visit!
Washington, Texas, Hawaii, Alaska, Indiana, Arizona, Idaho, Massachusettes, Kansas, New Mexico, Tennessee, Illinois, Florida…

International
I’ve never been to any of these countries, except India (but it’s a pretty big country) and the African country of Egypt, but most don’t count that as ‘African’ -not sure why…it’s technically on that continent.
Uganda, New Zealand, France, South Africa, Spain, India, Phillipines, any South American countries, any African countries really, Yap, Turkey, Afghanistan, Amsterdam

Hey Sam, Long time no see. I was reminded when I saw this travels list of the time when we were in Isreal and the group of us were comeing to a neat little spot on a gravely road an some rock reach up and grabbed the side of your shoe sending you headlong. Remember that? Check your knees they might still show the scars. Shortley after that day (I think because I recieved so much joy from it) I was smitten with hipp-ucks the worst I ever had. ….Oh the good days!!

Dan Leaman!!!!! I just talked to Jason Austin today…first time in 3 years…what a day of reunions!
I clicked your name and found no blog…how do I get in touch with you?

Yeah, the Israel memory you speak of is where Jason coined the phrase ‘Sam ball’ as I recall. :)
