ALWAYS HAVE TIME TO BE ‘GUTTED’

I have a friend from New Zealand.  Talking to him is always an adventure in cultural education cuz half of the expressions he uses are common to his part of the world (where i don’t live).  I am constantly asking him to repeat it/explain it.  One such word/phrase is ‘gutted’.  A context exmaple, ‘That conversation left me gutted’ (ie. deeply affected, usually in the sad/impacting sense).

Sooo, I have lots that i’ve wanted to blog about, but frankly don’t have the time.  I’d like to write about my trip to Colorado, I’d like to write about certain people that have blown my mind during all this cancer stuff, I’d like to write about what I’ve been personally learning over the last month or so, I’d like to share some of the hilarious things that have gone on, I’d love to write ideas about the next few months…but, no time to post anything of detail/length.

HOWEVER, today, I read a blurb blog that i subscribe to and well, I was ‘gutted’.  I may not have time to write posts, but I sure have time to be read into conviction…  guilty on almost all counts.

“People do not drift toward holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; we drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; we drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated.”

Sam: thanks for the link to Gospel Reminders. I’ve been enjoying seeing those bubble into my reader for the past couple weeks.
