SIGALERT

I first learned about SigAlert from Allie Habberstad…she uses it alot to guide her parents when they are on the road and they call in to her (their personal SigAlert operator).  However, yesterday was the first time I’d ever had cause to really use it myself…and when I say ‘myself”, I mean we (Jennene and Holly and I) asked the people in the seats next to us in a Castaic coffee shop to look it up on their computer.  Why?  Because we were all waiting (much like in an airport terminal when your flight’s been delayed) for the freeway to ’start moving again’.

Eventually, we ended up hanging out with our neighboring coffee shop mates, Richard and Stephanie (recent UCSD grads) because every major artery out of SCV was plagued with a MAJOR traffic disaster.  5 North-2 Big rigs overturned with Haz Mat and all lanes shut down; 126-2 fatalities and all lanes shut down; 101-1 fatality and lanes shut down..etc…It was like a movie…doomsday…24…people fleeing the city but can’t move an inch…
So, after hanging out at the Castaic coffee shop for a couple of hours, we decided to go back to my house and wait for a couple more hours until it ‘cleared’…by 11pm (per Sigalert.com) it was still under 14 miles an hour on the 5 North (a huge improvement from earlier, but still not worth trying to drive in).  So, I took the girls home and now at 4:36am  I am about to go pick them up and try again. :)   Let’s just say that I’m not starting out on this leg of the journey as rested as I could. :)

Soooo, the missions trip continues…flexibility…receiving Sovereignty with joy and happiness…and in the spirit of my aunt Colleen’s advice, “Oh, honey, ok, well…travel safely and …have fun.”  :)   Onward (with Sigalert in my back pocket!)!!!!
